UK Trademark Registration

Protection across the UK, filed with the UKIPO — a separate right from the EU trade mark since Brexit.

The UK is no longer covered by the EU mark

The United Kingdom left the EU on 31 January 2020, and EU trade marks no longer extend there. If the UK is one of your key European markets, a national registration with the UKIPO — covering England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland — belongs in your strategy alongside an EU mark.

How our agents handle it

Agents examine your mark against absolute grounds under section 3(a)–(d) of the Trade Marks Act, run an identity and similarity search across the UK, EU and WIPO registers with an attorney-reviewed report, and file electronically with the UKIPO. We manage the correspondence and formal objections; contentious refusals and third-party oppositions get attorney judgment.

What it costs

The UKIPO's official fee is £170 for the first class filed online and £50 for each additional class. Our flat service fee is €199 net. Registration typically takes about 4–6 months, and protection can later be extended via the Madrid System.
